It's 3:30 AM. The Seder is over.
Years ago, Rabbi Klatzko composed a song to be sung at the very end of the seder (when most of the family and guests are sleeping already)!
It was called "Leil Shimurim" - The Night of Watching.
It goes through some of the key verses in the Torah that describe a magnificent 24 hour period, beginning with the Korban Pesach and ending with the Jewish people leaving Egypt.
Every year the Klatzko family sings this tune, with each of the children singing a different part. It has four parts, with two parts slow and majestic and two parts uplifting and optimistic. May this be the last year we sing this in Galus!
Lyrics:
Translation:
It is a night of watching for the Almighty to take them out of Egypt, this is the night for God, a watching for the children of Israel for all generations.
And it was midnight and the Almighty struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne.
And Hashem Made the nation find favor in the eyes of the Egyptians. And they borrowed and emptied out Egypt (of treasure)
And it was in the middle of that day, the Almighty took the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt with their legions
